Dylan had an EVEN ROUGHER DAY TODAY... almost had a nurse pull out his breathing tube!! another to move a line forgot to turn oxygen back on!! BUT MOM & DAD WERE ON TOP OF THEIR GAME AND POINTED THESE THINGS OUT and GOT SUPERVISORS IN THE ROOM IMMEDIATELY!! (don't get me wrong them Nurses are are GREAT!! doing an awesome job! but it is a teaching hopsital so we do get newbies not sure of what they are doing)
With all that caught & taken care of.. Dylan had to have the probe placed back into his head to measure his cranial functions. Unfortunately they had to drill yet another hole. Since he is in a induced coma the only way to tell if his brain is functioning is with reading his cranial pressures.
AND THEY ARE AT 14! THAT IS GOOD!!! FINALLY A POSITIVE SIGN =)
His blood pressure is low but that may be due to the morphine and they are lowing that to bring up his blood pressure to normal

(funny story that made Kathe laugh, before Dylan got worse and after removing the breathing tube on Monday the doctors were asking him if he could hear them.. they were asking him to do a couple of commands and after the 2nd or 3rd time the doctor said "Dylan hold up 2 finger for me" and our Dylan the fighter proceeds to shows him the birdie!! HaHa... the doctor thinking that was just a reflex movement so asked him seriously Dylan? ok then give me a thumbs up and he slowly turns his wrist and give him a thumbs up! ... isn't that just awesome! .. that just made Kathe's day and gave her so much more hope :)

ReplyDeleteAlthough things are not where you want them to be at this moment, it is great to hear that Dylan's brain function is at 14! We continue to pray for all of you. May the Lord give you the strength you need each and every day to withstand this most terrible situation. When you think you can't take another minute of all this, ask the Lord to take over and HE WILL carry you through!

Kathe, we continue praying for Dylan, he will come out victorious and will be the same sweet kid his always been. Stay strong and positive, God is with ya'll and will not leave you guys. Dylan is a strong kid and will come out of this. God Bless you and your family.
