Dylan is in PICU today. The surgery took four hour, instead one. The neurosurgeon found lots of scar tissue and an area of old blood that needed to be evacuated, to allow the skull bone to fit perfectly in place. Sooo another brain surgery and finally the bone is back is place. What a work of art! Dylan is doing well, lots of pain and swelling from the procedure. Should be moving to a regular hospital room later this evening. Thanks to all our friends and family for there thoughts and prayer. God is GREAT!!!

We arrived at the Hospital today at 530 am. Dylan was admitted and went back to the pre-op area at 0630am. The surgery team took him back to the OR at 0720 am. Dylan was so brave and we prayed together before they rolled him back to the OR. The nurse called us at 0840 am to let us know that the procedure started at 0820 am. Sooo we are playing the waiting game.

Sorry for the delay in the update. We have had a busy summer. Dylan retrieved all his school credits by attending summer school four days a week, three hours a day. Dylan also meet all his rehabilitation goals last week for occupational, physical, and speech therapy. His determination is amazing!
Tomorrow is the big day......Dylan is scheduled with the neurosurgeon @ 7AM to have his skull bone put back in place and anchored with a bone cement. Please pray with us for a speedy recovery.

SUNDAY

Dylan is sooo glad to be home! Above is a picture of Dylan, Justin, Kevon, Mike, Sam and Jared (floating in the pool) having a great time in the hot tub! This picture was taken Saturday night, what a huge difference three weeks makes. This time three weeks ago we were in ICU and Dylan was very sick.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

A true miracle. The neurologist shocked us yesterday, he was so impressed with Dylan's physical and mental progress................that we get to go home instead of in patient rehab.

Sooooo Big D is at home as of five o'clock today. He says there is no place like home! Our house is complete now with Dylan home. We start out patient rehab in the next few days.

Just a thank you is a mighty powerful prayer! It says it all.

SATURDAY

What a wonderful Saturday morning! The neurologist stopped by and is pleased with Dylan's progress. Dylan had 52 staples and 10 sutures removed from the right side of his skull about 8:30. Its was a little uncomfortable but, Dylan is a trooper and did fine. Should be a busy day with therapy and a walk around the ward. Planning on checking out the rehab facilities today and let all know where we will be staying to get Dylan well over the next 3-4 weeks. Have a blessed day.

MIRACLE

Dylan's neurologist from the ER on Apr 30,2010 stopped by this evening to evaluate Dylan and check on his progress. The doctor was amazed at Dylan's ability to use his lap-top and IPhone only days after being transferred from ICU. Dylan was able to answer correctly all the doctors questions and master all task requested. The doctor could not believe Dylan went for a walk today.
The doctor told Dylan he is a MIRACLE! He explained to Dylan that he was in very very bad shape when they meet in the ER two weeks ago.
We thank God for showing us his grace, glory and his gift of life We also would like to thank the staff at University Hospital for the excellent care and all our friends and family for all the prayers and awesoooooooome support!

GOD IS GREAT

DYLAN WANTS TO GO HOME!

It is Thursday evening about 8:00 pm and Dylan has had a very busy day. Lots of physical therapy and another cruz around the ward with Dad in the big chair. Jason, Amber and Caiden visited this afternoon and Dylan was delighted to see Caiden his favorite nephew!
Dylan is tired of the hospital food and constant monitoring of his vitals by the nursing staff every 4 hours. He is ready to go home! He let mom know more than 15 times today that he is ready to GO HOME! And wants to see CC his cat.
The neuro-rehab doctors are not on the same page as Dylan. The plan is to get Dylan stronger over the weekend and move to a neuro-pediatric rehabilitation facility next Monday or Tuesday. God has shown us his power and grace with Dylan's healing and recovery. We sincerely thank God and all our family and friends for all the prayers and love over the past weeks! Lets keep on praying.
Lots of Love

BIG D MOVED

Dylan is making great progress! He has moved from ICU to pediatric floor room 82 on the ninth floor. David and Dylan took a ride around the floor, so Dylan could get a change of scenery.
Such a tremendous difference in one day. God has a plan for Dylan and we cant wait to follow Gods plan.

Wednesday May 12 AMAZING "D"

Today's report by Grace: MY GOD YOU ARE SO GOOD♥ what a difference a day makes... yesterday little by little "D" started coming around and as he did.. he said his first and last name on command, and remembered he was 15 years old, he was looking around the room at all the stuff, the physical therapists came in and he did well when asked to move his legs and arms, still weak but Kathe was just elated by such little moves (I was TOO :) They brought him in a food tray and he ATE! Kathe gave him 3 spoons of mash potatoes and about 12cc of lemonade. I don't think Kathe and I held back so many tears of happiness (we didn't want to confuse "D" by seeing us tearing up) BUT THEY WERE HAPPY TEARS! and when Kathe leaves the room OHhh he knows and doesn't like it!

When David came in he looked at him for a minute and once David started talking to him said I love you daddy and hugged him! =)

We also can tell when he starts getting headaches cause he points to his head. This morning he brushed his own teeth with both hands and wants to sit up! He trying to use his words more too.

SOOooo they are MOVING HIM out of ICU and critical condition status TODAY!!!

THE POWER OF PRAYERS!! THANK YOU ALL ♥
